Purpose a design house based in the uk have a very interesting site .. its absolutely fresh .

To celebrate Christmas this year, Gavin Martin Associates decided to hold
a Curryoke party – an evening of curry and karaoke – and asked Purpose to
design the invitation.

Purpose subverted popular Karaoke songs and the iconic Indian
take away container to create a memorable invite.

The invitations where delivered in a brown paper bag containing a
number of curry containers, each with a different song message scrawled
on the top. Songs include: ‘Murder on Dhansk floor’, ‘Love me tandoor’,
‘Rice rice baby’ and ‘Naaneater’, amongst many others.

Hidden away on the flipside of the lid are the event details
foil blocked onto mirror board.

mug

Coffee, like Helvetica, is an acquired taste. To satisfy both habits, this white ceramic mug features four weights of the timeless font – in corresponding caffeinated shades – and a sensibly squared handle. Holds 15 ounces of your favorite beverage but, like the typeface that adorns it, has bottomless potential. Checkout veer.com for more

Well promised to give you live updates .. but no laptop …. tragedy .. yup for sure … but anyways all the action from designyatra .. not all at once but in snippets for sure !… for starters Wally Olins .. I have always loved Wally olins … he is a brand himself .. I always .. seem to parallely place him next to Gandhi , with his pecular glasses and a look that you can never miss .. straight out of an Agathy Christy’s novel

wally-image-low-resolution2.jpg

Wally Olins was the opening speaker at the designyatra and for sure what an opening session it was … From his bid to brand India …. his astounding research on Indian brands , His querks about the 2012 Olympic’s logo .. The man meant business … Sarcastic humour  seem to have slipped out of Neville Brody’s mouth about Wally’s bluntness and his bid to brand India…… On the whole Wally has always been one designer whom I admire  alot and he lived up to his Bristish best…

Just a few days left for the Designyatra to commence … Although I am travelling to Goa on a shoe string budget … but alls well I mite just come face to face with the master..Stephan Sagmeister . I will be blogging about the event ,updating minute by minute happenings of the entire seminar. The excitement has set in ..all the action … and enlightenment of Designyatra 07 as it happens …

But despite all the excitement .. there’s some bad news , Two of the eminent speakers won’t be able to make it ,  but Piyush Pandey is going make his presence felt .. If that is something all we design lovers will enjoy … we’ll have to wait and watch. Watch out for our video blog of the entire event …

In a day .. I go about … surfing through millions of sites of various artist , illustrators and .. basically anything to do with creativity and ideas… Thats my way of living up the JWT philosophy of ” growing young”… well after recovering from a terrible head ache over the weekend I had to get back against my boss… in our OH so over the top fite of blog wars … and here’s one for you boss .. Emil Kozak studio .. a nice lil design studio runned my emil Kozak ….I like the stuff he creates .. its yound youthful … and very ME!

Emil Kozak is from a small town in Denmark, and was inspired to take on graphic design as a result of his life long passion for skateboarding. As a result his work has been exhibited widely in Europe and US, appeared in numerous magazines and featured on websites. He has produced design and artwork for clients such as Instant Winner (US), Graniph (JP), Ykiki (DK), ELEMENT (US), Monsieur T (FR/US), Blah Apparel (DK), LAB (DK), Streetmachine (US, FR, DK), VANS (US), Eastpak (US), Philip Braunstein (BRA), D:A:D (DK), Planet Earth (US), Hulger (UK) and Norse (DK)”

The 17th of april 2007 Mags.dk awarded some of the best magasines in Denmark. I made the prices. All of the prices have a connection to medium of the award. E.g. on the award for “art-director of the year” there is alot of markers, pantone guides
etc.

Your design can only be as good as the brief you worked from. The best projects are borne from briefs that are open enough to inspire ideas, while being specific enough to feel workable. Shaun Crowley shows how you can elicit these kinds of briefs by providing clients with briefing templates.

I came across these tiny notes from dsix design and love the simple and sweet messages they send. Notes are grouped into collections like “i will” which lists good deeds or tasks to accomplish and “i.o.u” which gives a lucky recipient some well-deserved time. They also come with the tiniest envelopes…

I generally like design that talks to me .. even when I go shopping somehow the the things in the store should talk to me … lure me to pick them off the rack … if that doesn’t seem to happen … then sorry i ain’t buying you ……

these lil notes do just that …. and I like them very much …..

       Oh Joy! Studio

I am a dreamer … and my dreams are sometimes as big as the ocean .. tall as the Himalayas and sometimes a simple as apple pie . And some of my simple dreams are to someday work for design studios .. that produce simple but beautiful works. And Oh Joy is one such place … as a kid i always seem to have keen fascination for floral prints and everything girly .. although I to the contrary am a tom boy in the making … Oh Joy seems to sum up my fascination for classy .. victorian and floral designs …

The designer Joy :
